SMM, January 6: With the Chinese New Year holiday approaching, SMM communicated with galvanized sheet enterprises regarding their holiday arrangements. This survey covered 20 galvanized sheet enterprises with a total capacity of 16.94 million mt/year, affecting zinc consumption by 10,521 mt. According to the findings, five enterprises chose to continue production during the Chinese New Year, with an average holiday duration of approximately 8.8 days, a decrease of 0.88 days YoY. SMM learned that, due to weather conditions, northern enterprises still have longer holiday durations than those in south China. A few enterprises reported better year-end order performance compared to last year, resulting in a slight delay in the start of their holiday, but the overall impact remains relatively small. Most galvanized sheet plants showed little change in their holiday arrangements. Regarding raw material stocking, zinc prices remained high at year-end, leading most galvanized sheet plants to purchase as needed to maintain their raw material inventory days. Currently, few enterprises have stocked up in advance, and procurement is expected to take place gradually over the next two weeks. SMM will continue to monitor the subsequent operations of galvanized sheet plants.
